  • Civic Centre Celebrations

    Everyone is invited to the Scarborough Civic Centre – from 12 noon until 10:00 p.m. - on Friday July 1 and Saturday July 2.

    Free Celebrations include something for everyone:  a Kids’ Zone; Food;  Entertainment;  an Arts Display;  and a Public Market & Food Fair, among many attractions.

    There will also be a special Ceremony in which some of Canada’s newest citizens will be welcomed.

    The Civic Centre has its own SRT stop – it is near McCowan, Brimley and Ellesmere TTC bus stops – it is just off Highway 401 and there is lots of parking nearby.

    The City of Toronto and the members of Scarborough Council invite you to enjoy these Celebrations.

    After the Celebrations, why not come a few blocks north – and enjoy the excellent restaurants and  many shops in Sheppard East Village?

  • Celebrate Father’s Day At the Oriental Centre

    The shopkeepers of the Oriental Centre invite everyone to come by and enjoy their Father’s Day celebrations on Saturday June 18, 2016 – from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

     

    There will be musical performances and circus presentations – and so much more.

  • Community Picnic on June 11, 2016

    Everyone is invited to a Community Picnic - a free event on Saturday June 11, 2016, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. - at the Burrows Hall Community Centre.

    Burrows Hall is conveniently located at the corner of Sheppard Avenue East and Progress Avenue – one stoplight east of Markham Road.  Parking at the picnic is free.  TTC bus service on both Sheppard and Markham Road makes getting to this picnic an easy thing to do.  

    This great annual Community Picnic is organized by the volunteer members of the Community Police Liaison Committees and the dedicated officers of our local Toronto Police 42 Division.

    42 Division serves the people, businesses and community organizations in the east end of Toronto – from Victoria Park Ave. to Port Union Road and from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue.

    Our neighbourhood is safe and being well protected by the dedicated team of police professionals who serve with Superintendent Kim Yeandle and her colleagues.

    Every year, 42 Division and its Community Liaison Committees organize an exciting Picnic for everyone in our community.  Many different + delicious foods, a variety of games, lots of entertainment, bouncy castles, a 50/50 draw, a silent auction, and a bike safety workshop are only some of the many reasons that you and your family will want to come out and enjoy this Picnic.

    Proceeds from this Picnic will help to fund other 42 Division Community Police Liaison Committee programs – including awards and scholarships for local students; after-school student groups; a summer camp opportunity; and the annual 42 Division Auxiliary Christmas Toy Drive.

    After enjoying the annual Community Picnic, everyone is welcome to come one block west - and sample the food, restaurants and shops of Sheppard East Village BIA.   

  • We Celebrate Mothers

    The Oriental Centre – conveniently located at the northeast corner of Sheppard Avenue East and Brimley Road – invites everyone to drop in for some special entertainment, arranged to help celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend.

    From 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. – SATURDAY MAY 7 – you are invited to enjoy some international talent that will perform for your enjoyment.

    Be sure not to miss our 4 Chinese singers (including Anne Chung, who appears in cooperation with AM 1540), as well as Tropicana Queen, a Brazilian samba group, and the popular dances of Fiona Su. There is no charge for this - and everyone is welcome.  

    The Oriental Centre and Sheppard East Village BIA are pleased to extend their very best wishes to all Mothers on their special day – and all year round! 

  • Open House & Rummage Sale at Police 42 Division

    Everyone is invited to an Open House and Rummage Sale at our local Police Station on Saturday May 7, 2016 – from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   42 Division is located at 242 Milner Avenue, one light west of Markham Road, one block north of Highway 401.

    42 Division serves the people, businesses and community organizations in a large part of the east end of Toronto – from Victoria Park Ave. to Port Union Road and from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue.

    Our neighbourhood is safe and being well protected by the dedicated team of police professionals who serve with Superintendent Kim Yeandle and Inspector Dave Vickers.

    Every year, 42 Division hosts an Open House, where everyone is welcome.  There will be tours of the police station, a display of various police vehicles and equipment, and a free BBQ – as well as a chance to speak and interact with police officers from our community.

    As part of the Open House, 42 Division holds a Rummage Sale that offers some great bargains on a wide range of interesting items.  It is organized by the Community Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and the Chinese Community Liaison Committee (CCLC) – a committee of police officers and a dedicated group of volunteers from across Scarborough, who support a variety of 42 Division activities throughout the year.

    Proceeds from the May 7 Rummage Sale will help to fund CPLC / CCLC programs – including awards and scholarships for local students; after-school student groups; a summer camp opportunity; the annual 42 Division Auxiliary Christmas Toy Drive; and the annual 42 Division Community Picnic (on June 11, at the Burrows Hall Community Centre).

  • Winterlicious Returns to Sheppard East Village

    Borsalino Restaurant (4505 Sheppard Avenue East, between Brimley and McCowan) will again be part of this very popular annual Toronto dining tradition.

  • Happy New Year!

    Be sure to join in the celebrations and catch the spirit of the Chinese New Year’s at the Oriental Centre. Everyone is welcome to share in this great annual tradition.

  • Enjoy Christmas with SAM

    Sir Alexander Mackenzie Senior Public School is well-known for the high quality of their orchestras, bands and choirs, featuring so many talented grade 7 and 8 students.

    You are invited to enjoy their annul concert:  Thursday December 10, 2015 – at 7:00 p.m. – in the Agincourt Collegiate auditorium. (ACI is on the east side of Midland Ave., just north of Sheppard Ave. East).  Admission is free and all are welcome.
